HOUNDING BEARS
RALLY FOR PROTECTION (July 2, 2012) -- Sen. Ted W. Lieu of Torrance, author of Senate Bill 1221, crouches with consultant Theo Cline and her rescued hound dog, Henry, after a recent Capitol steps rally attended by nearly 100 supporters of Senate Bill 1221. Authored by Lieu and sponsored by The Humane Society of the United States, SB 1221 would ban the use of hounds to prey on bears and bobcats. Approved by the Senate on May 21, the animal-protection measure passed its final Assembly policy review July 2. More HERE. Pictured in the poster above Theo is not Henry but a hound dog injured when it cornered a bear. Read Lieu's Fact Sheet on the measure HERE. Listen to an audio interview with Lieu HERE.
