Distinguished Service Award

SAN DIEGO (March 19, 2012) - Sen. Ted W. Lieu, speaks to the American Academy of Dermatology for his sponsorship of SB 746, which banned children under 18 from using UV-emitting tanning beds. Dr. Ron Moy, holds the award as he stands behind Lieu. The medical group presented Lieu with its Distinguished Service Award  for his law, effective Jan. 1, 2012, that made California the first state in the nation to impose such a ban. The law came after a four-year effort by Lieu, and followed the release in 2011 of several studies that conclusively showed tanning beds cause cancer. More HERE. (Photo courtesy AAD).
