'Trade Connect' workshop for businesses is Thursday: A free "Trade Connect" workshop will be held Thursday for small and medium-sized businesses hoping to create jobs and expand overseas trade.

Representatives from the Port of Los Angeles, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Small Business Administration, Los Angeles International Airport and the Center for International Development will offer advice at the workshop.

State Sen. Ted Lieu , D-Redondo Beach, is also scheduled to speak at the workshop. Lieu has a pending bill that would reestablish a cabinet-level agency to focus on key economic issues, including increased sales of California-made goods overseas.

The workshop is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. in the Los Angeles Harbor College Technology Building, 110 Smart Classroom, 1111 Figueroa Place, Wilmington.
