A free financial literacy fair for California consumers will be held during the lunch hour today on the state Capitol's north steps.
The event, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., features 20 exhibitors on topics ranging from college savings plans to investing to taxes. Among the participants: several banks and credit unions, the IRS and state Franchise Tax Board, as well as consumer agencies and groups involved with housing, investing and financial planning.
Tied to National Financial Literacy Month, it's co-hosted by state Controller John Chiang, state Sen. Ted Lieu, D-Torrance, and Assemblyman Mike Eng, D-Monterey Park.
