SAN FRANCISCO WEEKLY: Proposed Bill Won't Allow Therapists to "Cure" Gay Teens
By Erin Sherbert
North Carolina's most notorious nut job, Pastor Sean Harris, would be disappointed to learn that not only do we not beat the gay out of our kids in California, but we really aren't interested in trying to "cure" them either.
In other words, gay kids will be gay kids.
At least that's what Sen. Ted Lieu, (D-Torrance), thinks. The SoCal pol has introduced legislation that would make it illegal for therapists and psychologists to try to cure teens from being gay. The bill also says therapists would have to get written consent from any gay adult who is requesting to be "cured."
Lieu said yesterday that the bill would strictly regulate a form of therapy that "has no medical basis."
If approved, the bill, which was heard yesterday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, would allow clients to sue therapy professionals who provide the treatment to minors or to adults who have not given written consent.
So yeah we might not be a leader on gay marriage, but while North Carolina is busy beating up its "girlish sons," at least California is trying to save one gay kid at a time
