Torrance Chamber president honored
As about 450 civic leaders watched, Donna Duperron, president and chief executive officer of the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce, was honored today as Sen. Ted W. Lieu’s 2012 Woman of the Year.
Duperron, a local community activist for decades, has worked more than 15 years helping local non-profit organizations, including the establishment of many private-public partnerships. Those include the TACC Foundation, the Adopt-a-School program, Business for a Day, Mentor Program, State of Education, as well as developing task forces to better serve the civic and business community.
“The residents of the wonderful community of Torrance hold Donna Duperron in high esteem,” Lieu said. “She has had a positive impact on her community that will benefit residents for generations.”
Duperron was one of several singled out as lawmakers statewide recognized their women of the year. Duperron was presented with the award during the annual Torrance State of the City Address with Mayor Frank Scotto at the Torrance Marriott Hotel.
