Self-checkout kiosks seemed to be the way forward for many years. Retailers slowly began adding self-checkout kiosks to their exit points in order to facilitate the process and decrease staff needs. But recently the tide seems to be turning and the self-checkout kiosks are starting to disappear in favor of cashier lanes because of customer complaints and rising retail theft.
