Sen. Smallwood-Cuevas Recognizes Teacher to Kick-Off Teacher Appreciation Week
To kick-off Teacher Appreciation Week, Senator Lola Smallwood-Cuevas (D-Los Angeles) awarded a Certificate of Recognition to Robyn Johnson, a longtime kindergarten teacher at Farragut Elementary School in Culver City. Senator Smallwood-Cuevas presented the certificate to Ms. Johnson inside of her own classroom, where she was surrounded by her students as well as faculty and colleagues.
Ms. Johnson has spent the past two decades teaching in the Culver City Unified School District, performing above and beyond to ensure that her students have a strong educational foundation. She also is a local parent, volunteer and supporter of the Culver City Education Foundation. Senator Smallwood-Cuevas made the certificate presentation as a demonstration of her gratitude for the extraordinary work of all teachers who perform with excellence.
“Teachers have one of the most important jobs on the planet,” said Senator Smallwood-Cuevas. “We truly appreciate all dedicated school teachers, like Ms. Johnson, who are deeply devoted to their mission of positively impacting the lives of our youth.”
Senator Lola Smallwood Cuevas represents the 28th Senate District, which includes the communities of South Los Angeles, Culver City, West Los Angeles, Century City and Downtown Los Angeles. Senator Smallwood-Cuevas spent more than two decades serving as a labor organizer, civil rights activist and community advocate before her election to the State Senate. She resides in the View Park community of Los Angeles with her family.
