Senator Smallwood-Cuevas Releases Statement on Governor’s 2025-26 Budget Plan
Senator Lola Smallwood-Cuevas (D-Los Angeles) has released the following statement about Governor Newsom’s proposed 2025-26 budget:
“The Governor’s 2025-26 budget plan reflects a fiscally responsible approach while prioritizing vital initiatives that support working families and everyday Californians. As Chair of the Senate Labor, Public Employment and Retirement Committee, I commend the Governor’s efforts to propose a budget that reflects a commitment to economic development and worker health and safety.
“As the incoming federal administration threatens to target vulnerable communities and dismantle critical programs, it is more important than ever to protect the services that have consistently uplifted and improved the lives of Californians.
“My legislative focus will remain on safeguarding these essential programs and ensuring they continue to provide opportunities and support where they are needed most. I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues throughout the budgetary process to pass a final budget that promotes affordability, expands equity and opportunity, and ensures justice for all Californians.”
