SB 75 – Reentry Pilot Project
This is a Legislative Women’s Caucus Priority Bill. Requires the CA Workforce Development Board to establish a Reentry Pilot Project in the Counties of Alameda, Los Angeles, and San Diego to provide workforce training and transitional support to formerly incarcerated individuals committed to careers in the skilled trades.
SB 238 – Workplace Surveillance Technology
Requires an employer to annually provide a notice to the Department of Industrial Relations of all the workplace surveillance tools the employer is using in the workplace.
SB 247 – Public Contracts: Bid Preference
Provides an up-to-10% bid preference for any public infrastructure project, which receives over $35 million in federal infrastructure funding, if the project meets specified equity metrics.
SB 290 – CalWORKS
Removes the sanction requirement for a household that has not submitted documentation of immunization when applying for CalWORKS.
SB 303 - Public Employee Bias Mitigation and Anti-Discrimination
Enables state and local agencies to engage in bias and anti-discrimination programs while keeping employees' participation in these programs confidential and inadmissible in civil court proceedings.
SB 366 – Artificial Intelligence Study
Directs a study to be completed by the UCLA Labor Center on artificial intelligence's impacts on the workplace, job quality, and worker well-being, as well as impact to state revenues.
SB 368 – Price Gouging
Requires the Department of Justice and local prosecutors to establish partnerships to enforce price gouging protections.
SB 423 – Enhancing Workforce Development for Incarcerated Firefighters
Requires CDCR, in consultation with local fire departments and other stakeholders, to establish a post-release hiring program and accompanying procedures for hiring formerly incarcerated firefighters. Would also allow the Los Angeles County Fire Department to establish a Hand Crew Pilot Program to enroll formerly incarcerated individuals.
SB 442 – Self-Service Checkout
Establishes rules for retail stores that provide a self-service checkout option for customers and sets penalties for employers who violate the bill’s provisions.
SB 464 – Pay Equity Data Reporting
This is a CA Legislative Black Caucus Priority Bill. Expands pay data reporting requirements to public employers and will make other changes to add additional job categories, expand salary bands, and other changes to ensure higher quality data from the pay data reports.
SB 469 – Public Infrastructure Task Force
Requires the Department of Industrial Relations to establish a task force for the purpose of improving employment in public infrastructure projects for underrepresented communities.
SB 560 – Welfare Fraud Prosecution
Requires at least $25,000 in overpayment before criminal prosecution is permissible in cases involving a person's misrepresentation of income that results in welfare overpayment.
SB 578 – CA Workplace Outreach Project
Requires the Department of Industrial Relations to establish and administer the CA Workplace Outreach Project to promote awareness of, and compliance with, workplace protections that affect workers.
SB 592 – Community Land Trust Tax Reassessment
Exempts properties transferred to community land trusts from tax reassessments.
SB 626 – Perinatal Mental Health
Strengthens existing law to improve maternal mental health by requiring perinatal providers to follow ACOG guidelines, mandating coverage for treatments, training providers, and ensuring long-term accountability.
SB 648 – Gratuities Theft Enforcement
Gives the Labor Commissioner the authority to investigate and issue citations or file a civil action for gratuities taken or withheld from employees in violation of existing law.
SB 756 – CA Film Commission: Tracking and Compliance
Requires the California Film Commission to establish and implement a comprehensive tracking and compliance program to monitor the economic impact of productions receiving motion picture tax credits.
