BizFed Partnership Newsletter
| WELCOME |
Greetings Neighbor,
One of my greatest priorities is ensuring that our small businesses and community leaders have the tools they need to thrive. That's why I was proud to partner with the LA County BizFed Institute and the Culver City and Century City Chambers of Commerce to support the spring cohort of the BizFed Advocacy Academy, a free leadership academy designed to empower small business owners with civic advocacy skills.
In this newsletter issue, you’ll get glimpse of last week’s culmination event celebrating the academy’s graduates. You’ll also learn more about how the academy educates participants on strengthening their civic engagement skills to build a brighter future for communities across our district.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve our vibrant 28th Senate District. Please visit our website to learn how to reach our District and Capitol teams for legislative and constituent services or to submit requests to schedule events or meetings.
As always, my office is here to assist you. I encourage you to stay engaged, share your concerns, and join us as we continue working toward a brighter and more equitable future across our state.
Warm Regards,
Lola Smallwood-Cuevas
Senator, 28th District
Celebrating the BizFed Advocacy Academy’s Spring Graduates

Pleased to partner with the LA County BizFed Institute, Culver City Chamber of Commerce, and Century City Chamber of Commerce in supporting the spring cohort of the BizFed Advocacy Academy. Now in its third year, this free leadership academy equips emerging business and community leaders with the skills needed to effectively advocate for their businesses, neighborhoods, and their regional economic future.
Last week, I was honored to give the keynote address at the culmination ceremony for the academy’s graduates. Following my address, I participated in a panel discussion alongside representatives from the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz). Our conversation focused on strengthening community advocacy, expanding access to state resources, and supporting the continued growth and success of California’s small businesses.
Congratulations to this year’s graduates for their commitment to leadership and civic engagement! Their efforts will ultimately help build stronger businesses and more resilient communities across the greater LA region.
Honoring Kevin Harbour’s Leadership

During the BizFed Advocacy Academy’s culmination ceremony last week, I was pleased to present a Certificate of Recognition to LA County BizFed Institute President Kevin Harbour in honor of his outstanding leadership and dedicated service.
Throughout his tenure, Kevin has played an instrumental role in empowering business and community leaders across Los Angeles through leadership development, civic engagement, and advocacy.
Thank you, Kevin, for your dedicated leadership and commitment to advancing business advocacy throughout LA County.
